Calculation of Leaves.

Before you are going to start read this post, I want to tell you people that this is one of the most important and most useful post among all of the posts of this blog. In this post we will discuss about how we can calculate leaves like earned leave, half pay leaves and commuted leaves etc. We have thoroughly studied about each kind of leave in previous post that how a leave can be taken. Today is this post we discuss only about calculation of leave. There are thousands of employees who are always want to know about how many leaves are at their credit.
So let's first of all start with 'Earned Leave'

As per rule 8.116 of Punjab CSR Volume 1 Part 1, the Earned leave is admissible to a permanent government employee is:-

1. 1/24th of the period spent on duty,for first 10 years of service,
2. 1/18th of the period spent on duty during next 10 years of duty and;
3. 1/12th of the period spent on duty after 20 years of service.

Now let's do a practical. Suppose Mr. A has Joined as a regular government employee on 15-01-1998. He has taken earned leave from 01-01-2005 to 31-01-2005 and from 15-6-2014 to 30-06-2014. His Earned leave will be calculated as follows:-

In above fig. in leave at credit column 2/24, 15/18 and 2/12 is comes when we divide total no. of days with 24,18 and 12 respectively. It means 24,18 and 12 are divisors, 2,15,2 are the remainders and 105,121,251,307 and 337 are quotients.So Earned leaves at credit as on 1-1-2019 is 337+2/12.
